Honestly it is one of the best things I have ever pushed myself to do, I know to a lot of people my age find it hard nowadays to stay on the straight and narrow especially with all the pressure of school and all the madness that is going on in the streets, but I have been there.
From the age of 13 I was doing some stupid things that cause me to be stabbed by the age of 15 and to have more fights under my belt than Mike Tyson, so a kid like me would probably be the most unlikely candidate to be going on work experience in a office but I am and I am absolutely loving it and I am so grateful for Chess taking me in and giving me this experience, because it has proven to me that adult life is not as scary as I once thought.
All the people here are such nice people and they really help give you a good idea about what work is all about. Obviously it’s not all just work, work, work, Chess also know how to have a really great time and really know how to make their employers feel a part of a family, from there sports days to even just working in the office there is always laughter and good vibes.
In my first week I worked alongside the ICT and Marketing Teams. I was imaging and updating other worker’s computers and helping the Marketing Team set up for a recruitment evening. It has been the most eventful and exciting time ever so a big thank you to the people in these departments who showed me the ropes.
So thank you Chess for giving me this opportunity and also thank you to the Prince’s Trust because if it wasn’t for you I would never have got to where I have gotten today. So to all the parents I suggest you strongly encourage your kids to join a Prince’s Trust programme so they can have these opportunities as well.
