Microsoft’s flagship device has been hailed as “arguably the best made Windows 10 tablet going” and the “best detachable Windows 10 PC money can buy”

Here are just some of the reasons why:

Chip

Intel’s latest eighth-generation, fast, efficient Core i5 is the latest quad-core variant, handling multi-tasking with ease. It’s not the choice of gamers, but the integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics chip will cruise through business apps with ease.

Battery Life

Key to efficient working on the go is a battery which will put in the same hours that you do. The Surface Pro 6’s battery is bigger and packs more of a punch, lasting longer between charges – a real bonus on those inevitable days when the charger gets left behind.

Display

Blacks are blacker and colours are brighter, thanks to the stronger contrst ratio of 1,500:1 (up from 1,300:1)

Windows

Despite the “Pro” name, devices available on the High Street come with Windows 10 Home installed. For business users, make sure it’s the Windows Pro that your new device is running.

The Windows Hello IR facial-recognition camera, removing the need to constantly input your password to log into the Surface Pro 6, is easily the best way to log into a PC, starting up, seeing you and logging you in effortlessly

Security

Pro supports enterprise networking and domain joining, as well as Microsoft’s Bitlocker encryption tools for securing your data.

Body

Black is.. the new black, impressively resilient to fingerprints and random marking platinum silver

Weight

Compared with the competition, the 770g Surface Pro is around 100g heavier than the 12.9in Apple iPad Pro with similar dimensions. The slightly larger 13in Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet is more than 100g heavier but the smaller 10in Surface Go is 248g lighter.

With the Type Cover attached the Surface Pro weighs 1.08kg, which makes it lighter than most ultrabooks, but more than 313g heavier than the Surface Go with Type Cover.

Our Verdict

Key to developing a modern workplace is the option to equip your people with a device that’s as suitable to a traditional desktop environment as it is to the modern workplace.

As the tablet that’s also a laptop, it ticks a whole load of boxes, and looks like seeing off all contenders for a while yet.

The Surface Pro (along with a wide range of mobile, laptop and tablet devices) is now available to lease, with monthly payments from less than £45.
